Shizuoka & Kagoshima Prefectures

Japan

The tea growing region located along the streams and valleys of the Abe and Warashina Rivers at the base of Shizuoka’s Southern Alps is a renowned terroir for sencha aficionados with natural micro-climates that are exclusive to the remote inner reaches of the Shizuoka Prefecture. With nearly 800 years of tea farming history, this spectacular tea origin is the highest elevation tea growing region for Japanese sencha and is surrounded by dense mountain forests, clear air, pure river streams and abundant nature.

FAQs

Is matcha a good alternative to coffee?

Yes, matcha works well as a coffee substitute. Top-grade matcha has higher caffeine content than most green teas and many black teas as it’s made from young tea leaves. You’ll still get some caffeine in your system if you switch to matcha, but you’re less likely to have the jitters often associated with drinking coffee.

Sweet Matcha powder is also easy to mix into other drinks like tea lattes, cocktails and mocktails. You might be surprised to find you don’t miss coffee after switching to this tea.

Where is Sweet Matcha powder sourced from?

The tea leaves dried and then stone-milled into Rishi Tea’s Sweet Matcha powder originate from the Shizuoka and Kagoshima Prefectures in Japan. These regions are steeped in tea-farming history, but more than this, the combination of a pristine natural environment and high elevation ensure the premium quality of the sencha, or green tea, from this region.

What is the best way to enjoy Sweet Matcha?

While you can enjoy this sweetened green tea by simply whisking it into hot water, indulgence comes in the form of a hot or iced tea latte. This blends the sweetened matcha powder with a milk or milk alternative of your choice. You can also add lemon juice to a matcha-and-water mix for a matcha lemonade or add the powder to your favorite smoothie blend.
