Sake Barrel Aged Sencha
A unique flavor experience with tasting notes of peach, sake, nectarine and chestnut with soft spice
About this tea
This tea is a blend of mid-steamed sencha from the Kirishima and Shizuoka regions of Japan. The tea was vibrant and rich green as shincha (“New Spring Tea”), but after four months of aging in the sake barrel, it transformed into a smooth, mellow and fruity infusion. It reminds the palate of Nigori Sake with its boozy and fruity fermentation aromas. It is surprising for a green tea to have such a luxurious and layered taste. The sake barrel aging creates a unique flavor experience with tasting notes of peach, rice wine, nectarine, toasted chestnut and soft spice. This is one of our very unique Kuradashi teas.
